PC Help: Forgot Your Password on XP?

It is really unavoidable that we, as a computer users or PC administrators, forget our passwords. If this happens, then that's a great problem! If you're stuck down on this dilemma, then follow this steps to help you solving the issue.

Follow this steps:

1. Restart you computer

2. When booting, press F8 and select "Safe Mode"

3. After getting to the user menu. Click on a user and this time it will not ask you for a password

4. Go to Start>Run and type "CMD" (without the quotes).

5. At command prompt type in "cd C:WindowsSystem32" (without the quotes), I am assuming C is your System/Windows Drive

6. For safety purposes first make a backup of your Logon.Scr file.. You can do this by typing in "Copy to Logon.scr to Logon.bak" (without the quotes)

7. Then type "copy CMD.EXE Logon.scr"(without the quotes)

8. Then type this command, I will assume that you want to set Administrator's password to "MyNewPass" (without the quotes)

9. Now, type this in (I am assuming that you are still in the directory C:WindowsSystem32) , "net user administrator MyNewPass" without the quotes

10. You will get a message saying that it was successful, this means Administrator's new password is "MyNewPass" (without the quotes)

11. Restart the PC and you will login as Administrator (or whatever you chose to reset) with your chosen password.

12. Done!

Tweak: Make your FIREFOX 100% Faster!

We already know that Firefox is the fastest and the most secure internet browser offered in the web. But did you know that you can still make your FIREFOX even faster? Consider this trick and enjoy a very fast internet browsing.

Don't have Mozilla Firefox? Download it using the FIREFOX banner found in my SIDEBAR.

Here's the trick:

1) Open FIREFOX then type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2) Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. (I changed mine to 100, works great.)

3) Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Increase your Bandwidth by 20%! (Tried and Test: Works 100%)

We always wanted to have a fast internet connection, right? But did you know that Windows gets a portion of that bandwidth? Whether you like it or not, Microsoft Windows (specifically Windows XP) automatically reserves 20% of your total bandwidth. You can get it back! Follow this steps to get your 20% bandwidth.

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative
Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
